Solved my laptop shows the charging light but won't boot even without the battery forum what happens when you can't take the battery out and the toshiba laptop won't turn on and a orange light. Inspiron 1000 won't boot with battery in. i have an inspiron 1000 laptop. running winxp with all sp's installed and latest drivers. here is the issue, the laptop will not start-up at all with the "brand new" battery and a/c power connected.. Same issue here----i have an hp dv6700 which i really like----i got a new battery for it as well as a new power adaptor (figuring i'd try process of elimination), but after reading many related articles online, i can't get it to boot up to charge the battery or run with just the adaptor..
