While recent linux kernels already have those drivers so any distribution, running in a kvm vm, should recognize virtio devices exposed by the kvm hypervisor, all current windows os need special drivers to use virtio devices.. Kvm provides a virtio interface for the virtual hard disk and nic. to use them in a windows guest vm, the drivers from fedora (you only need the iso file) must first be installed into windows. to install them in a windows guest vm, it must also be started with these interfaces so that windows can detect them.. Hello, i am trying to get a windows 7 vm up and running on my unraid. i downloaded the virtio drivers that are linked all over the forms and every time i try to load them windows rejects them because they are not signed. if i try to install windows 8.1 with the same drivers they work great. thank....
Installing. at first, no drive is present. this is normal. click "load driver". for server 2008, use vista. for server 2008r2, use win7. for server 2012 and 2012 r2, use win8.. Context: i am attempting to convince a 64bit win7 virtualbox image to run under openstack, and windows isn't my usual platform. installing the virtio drivers hasn't been going well.. I am trying to install windows 7 64bit as a kvm guest. i read here that i should install the virtio scsi driver during installation. i use virt-install to start my installation from the command line.
